We cordially invite you to participate in the 14th Central European Workshop on Soil Zoology. The CEWSZ-14 will be held as traditionally in České Budějovice on the campus of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic as the previous thirteen meetings.
REGISTRATION
For successful registration, please, fill in the registration form below and make the payment. The registration fee includes book of abstracts, welcome dinner, some small refreshments during coffee breaks, lunches and excursion costs. Last possible registration date and abstract submission is on March 20th. Abstracts submitted after this date will not be included in the abstract book.

Aim and scope
The traditional aim of this workshop is to bring together specialists from Central Europe to exchange knowledge and experience of topical issues in the field of soil zoology. All actual aspects of soil zoology and ecology research are welcome.
Deadlines
Last possible registration and submission of abstracts – March 20 th
Abstracts
Author information should include the complete name of all authors (first name preceding last name), underline the author giving the talk or presenting the poster. Do not include the author's degrees, titles or institutional appointments. The institutional affiliation, city and country should follow on a separate line. The maximum length of the whole abstract including title, name(s) of author(s) and address(es) should not exceed one A4 page, i.e. 3000 characters incl. spaces. Do not include references, tables or figures. Use a 12 pitch font size for the whole abstract, preferably Times New Roman, spacing 1.5. All abstracts should reach the Secretary of the CEWSZ-14 until March 20, 2018. Abstracts submitted after this date will not be included in the abstract book!
Presentations & Posters
Oral presentations are limited to 15 min. + 5 min. for the discussion. A PowerPoint data projector (PC with Flash-Disc mechanics) will be available. Please install your PowerPoint presentations in time before your lecture, i.e. after the registration or before the start of the corresponding session. Posters (preferred size approx. 90 cm x 100 cm – portrait) can be put on the panels in the ground floor hall in front of the Main Lecture Room (Branišovská 31) during the whole time of the workshop. Please look for the label with your name on the poster panels.
Lunches
Lunches will be served at the Academy's lunchroom, only few steps from the Main Lecture Room. You will receive lunch vouchers together with other workshop materials. The lunches are included in the registration fee.
Social programme, meals and refreshments
Drinks and snacks will be served during the coffee breaks near the registration desk. On Monday night (April 16th, 19.00) there will be a workshop dinner (costs included in the registration fee) at the short distance from a Workshop venue, nearby the city centre. All workshop participants are kindly invited. During the second workshop afternoon (Tuesday, April 17th) the poster session will be enriched by the tasting of typical regional products. For the second workshop evening (April 17th, 19.00) all participants are invited to come together for an informal dinner in the beer pub “Klub malých pivovarů” (= Club of Small Breweries) at the Husova street 119/103 – see also the map placed close to the registration desk (15 min. walk from the workshop venue). Small refreshments will be covered from the workshop sources for all present participants, but please notice that you will have to pay any additional consumption.

Workshop excursion
The excursion will take place on Wednesday (April 18th). The workshop excursion is planned to selected historical sights and natural beauties in the South Bohemia. We recommend appropriate shoes and clothing in case of bad weather. The excursion costs (bus transport, entrance fees and lunch) are included in the registration fee.
Proceedings book
Following the tradition of preceding CEWSZ’s we are ready to publish papers based on your oral contributions and posters presented at the workshop in a special volume of the peer review journal of the Czech Zoological Society - Acta Societatis Zoologicae Bohemicae (ASZB) with the subtitle “Contributions to Soil Zoology in Central Europe ”. The Instructions to Authors are available at the workshop website of the Czech Zoological Society: www.zoospol.cz/?sekce=act&jazyk=en. Contributors are asked to submit their manuscripts via email directly to Mr. Karel Tajovský (cewsz@bc.cas.cz). Manuscripts have to be in English (we urgently recommend to have them reviewed by a native speaker familiar with the field) and should not exceed 12 (lectures) or 8 (posters) pages including figures, tables and references. The deadline for the submission of manuscripts is September 1 st , 2018. Each participant will receive one copy of the special volume of ASZB and a pdf file of his/her published paper.

Schedule
The workshop will be hosted by the Institute of Soil Biology, Biology Centre, Czech Academy of Sciences in České Budějovice from Monday 16th to Wednesday 18th April, 2018. The workshop excursion is planned to selected historical sights and natural beauties in the South Bohemia. The scientific programme includes lectures and poster presentations covering a spectrum of different aspects of soil zoology currently worked upon in this region. Programme and schedule will be specified according to the final number of lectures and poster presentations.
